QA Sidekick

QA Sidekick is a website and browser extension that replaces the back-and-forth of manual testing. Testers raise a ticket from the page they're on, attach screenshots and the exact page element, and the extension records the browser, operating system and URL automatically, so developers get everything they need first time.

The challenge

Teams were tracking manual testing in spreadsheets, Trello boards and chat threads, and developers spent their time chasing missing details. The product had to go from idea to something teams would pay for, with a team of one to begin with.

What we did

We built the whole product: a GraphQL API on Python, Django and PostgreSQL, a React, TypeScript and Tailwind frontend and the browser extension, deployed to AWS with GitHub Actions CI/CD and monitored with Elasticsearch, Kibana and Logstash.

We made every product and prioritisation call, onboarding and supporting early customers directly and deciding which requests became features, later leading a team of two.

We integrated Stripe payments, Slack and other third-party APIs so customers could extend the product into their own workflows.
